JE Insurance Brokers
Data Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: September 2026
JE Insurance is committed to protecting the privacy and security of personal information entrusted to us. As a Nigerian insurance broker, we arrange, negotiate and place motor, property and other insurance cover on behalf of our clients; we do not underwrite insurance risk.
Personal data we process
Depending on the service requested, this may include contact and identification details; date of birth; vehicle, driver, property, policy, premium and payment information; claims information; communications; and documents or photographs supplied for an application or claim. For claims, it can include accident or loss details, official reports, witnesses, repair estimates, proof of ownership and—where lawful and relevant—medical or injury information.
How we collect and use it
We receive data directly from you, through our website and communications, from authorised representatives and parties involved in an application or claim, service providers, public sources where lawful, and authorities where permitted or required. We use it to provide quotations, arrange and administer cover, collect premiums, support claims, verify information, prevent fraud, manage complaints, improve our services, protect our systems and meet legal obligations.
Lawful basis and marketing
Processing is based on performance of a contract, legal or regulatory duties, consent where required, or legitimate interests where permitted by Nigerian law. We may send relevant product and promotional communications where lawful; you can opt out at any time through the unsubscribe method provided or by contacting us.
Sharing and international transfers
We may share data with underwriters, reinsurers, agents, assessors, claims investigators, repairers, payment, technology and cloud providers, advisers, auditors, regulators and authorities where necessary. An underwriter usually becomes an independent data controller once it receives data to quote, place or administer cover. For transfers outside Nigeria, we use appropriate lawful safeguards.
Retention and security
We retain data only as long as needed for its purpose or longer where law, regulation, claims, disputes or contracts require it. We use proportionate safeguards including access controls, secure authentication, encryption where appropriate, role-based access, backups, monitoring, vulnerability management, training and incident-response procedures.
Your rights
Subject to applicable limitations, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing; withdraw consent; and make a complaint. We may verify your identity and an authorised representative’s authority before fulfilling a request.
Cookies, children and changes
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate and secure our services, remember preferences, improve functionality and understand usage. We obtain consent for non-essential cookies where required. We do not knowingly collect children’s data unless necessary for insurance services and handled with appropriate safeguards. We may update this policy as our services, technology, organisation or applicable requirements change.
Contact and complaints
For privacy questions, requests or complaints, contact the Data Protection Officer at info@jeib.ng, JE Insurance Brokers, 4 Thabo Mbeki Street, Asokoro, Abuja. You may also complain to the relevant Nigerian data-protection authority where permitted by law.
